Hello,

I am very happy to travel to any part of the UK to look after your home and to provide some loving company for your treasured pets.

I am a tidy, quiet and conscientious house sitter, who has experience of both long term and short term sits.

While I do love the countryside, I also enjoy house sitting in a town or city.

My interests include reading, chess, writing and nature. I am a non-smoker.


House Sitting Experience

I was lucky enough to do some house sitting in beautiful County Kerry, Ireland for a few of weeks. I looked after a property and did some cleaning before it was put up for sale.

When I was staying in Spain, I was able to house sit at an old Moorish mill house in Andalusia. Again, the sit was for three weeks.

Most of my house sitting experience has been for extended periods of time. Routinely, I have had the pleasure to house sit for a retired couple who spend their winters in New Zealand. Five times I have made my way to Tedburn St Mary in Devon to look after their home and to enjoy the delightful company of my feline friend, Jasper (see photographs).

Each of the above sitting opportunities came by way of another website called Helpx. While I have plenty of positive references on that site, this summer will be my first seeking sits on House Sitters UK. Perhaps a verifiable reference for my sits in Devon would be in good order - in that case, the couple for whom I housesat are happy to contact you privately via email. In the meantime, they kindly wrote the following words:

"I have known Steve Mason for quite a few years now, he has house and cat sat for me for at least five consecutive years for as long as 3-4 months at a time, enabling me to travel abroad without troubling myself with worries about how things are at home. I have found him utterly reliable and honest. He has developed a long loving relationship with my cat "Jasper". It continues until today, Steve keeps in touch with me and often asked how Jasper is getting along. Steve is a wholly trustworthy man and takes his responsibilities very seriously. When I am away he keeps me informed on how things are at home regularly. I have no hesitation in recommending Steve as a reliable house and pet sitter."

Over the years, I have also done some cat and dog sitting for family and friends.


Given my past experiences, I am used to corresponding with home owners effectively whilst on a sit. I do appreciate the piece of mind that good communication can bring and am happy to provide updates at any time.

On another note, I would like to arrange a longer term house sit (1-4 months) sometime next year. Perhaps you were hoping to get away for some time but think the idea a little impractical as regards house sitting and pet care. Well, please feel free to contact me about any extended house sit. I would be more than interested to hear from you. We could always dovetail our plans seamlessly at this early stage,

Although I joined this site some time ago, I am excited to be in the position now to enjoy my first house sit and to experience for myself the wonderful community I have heard so much about.

Steven arrived exactly when he said he would and Sassy took to him straight away. I had no problems knowing that we could trust him with the house and little Sassy who is somewhat elderly now. He is calm, clean, organized, flexible and very considerate and we had just the right amount of communication. The house was just as we had left it on our return and Sassy was extremely content. Steven looked after our house whilst we were abroad for six weeks. Throughout, Steven kept in touch and asked when he was not sure of anything. He coped with a boiler emergency, liaising with the engineer several times as well as battening the property down when a storm approached. The house was left clean and tidy and even the mail box had had a sweep-out. We would not hesitate to recommend Steven and look forward to his next stay later this year.

Steven is a wonderful cat-sitter. He asks for a description of your cat(s) and their personality so that he understand their needs. My cat, Mollie, learned to trust him within hours as he talked to her so gently and waited for her to invite him to stroke her. He sent me photos and a short video. They really took to each other. Steven was an amazing house sitter. He was very considerate of our things and space, and did a great job of keeping the house together. We came back to a house that was cleaner than we left it, which was a treat! Steven really cared about our chickens, and I know that they enjoyed getting treats from him!
