Craig (AKA Animal Whisperer)

50, Retired(Software)

About me!

Hello this is Craig (pictured with a regular sit cat),

**
We are professional house and pet sitters who charge as per the amount detailed in our first contact with you which depends upon your location.
**

I'm a mature 50 year old, who is very flexible, affable and a calm person under pressure.

We live a clean, healthy, active lifestyle; don't smoke (prefer juice and water to drink than anything else) and I have a proven record of managing peoples homes and pets. From large estates to a box in London E1 with 4 cats!

I work from home.

I'm a British Born individual; interested in looking after any property/pets/estate security and still have 'some' availability this year.

I run my own small computer software and hardware company,
(Software, Cloud services and laptop repair),
which allows remote working and location neutrality. (AKA I can run it from a living room or the beach).

I'm not concerned about air-conditioning but Wifi internet (even very slow) would be a big help, even if just available at the local town.

I enjoy writing lyrics/poetry as a hobby and produced a solo music album some years ago (I don't like to think about how long ago!).

I'm currently writing a novel...self-help book about relationships, based on the John Gottman research.

What can I bring?

For a pet sit I am a HIIT sprinter which the dogs love as it is exciting to take them out and run about. For cats I like to hide small water bowls around the place as I find they enjoy the surprise.

I'm very emotionally intelligent and love to send action shots of pets to you owners while they are away; as I know it is comforting!

Experiences!

I have managed two huge black labs and even walked them at the same time. So energy/size is fine. That sit also had 3 cats (managed 4 as a maximum).

We've also managed both very old dogs and cats (with associated issues and medications) and rescue dogs (with their unique issues) and have references to that also.

The largest sit was 4 dogs, 4 cats, 5 poultry, 2 sugar gliders(marsupial), two exotic birds and a collection of two types of rare moths.
We have looked after 5 tortoise, 3 geese, 9 chickens and also fish (inside and outside); as the below reference had them and my father has numerous tropical fish also that I bought for him.

We also did a solo rabbit sit and had Guinea pigs as children.

In 2016 I returned from one year volunteering in the USA, at the Unitarian Church in Summit, New Jersey. I lived at a church members house and it was initially a cat/pet sit, then I generally looked after the large house and hot-tub when they were away for 4 to 6 months of the year. (Grounds maintenance, Security lights, Tub Chemicals, etc.)

As a younger man I managed my parents 8 apartment property business, while they were away, which was everything from grounds maintenance, arranging appliance maintenance to answering calls or showing potential tenants around the property and rent collection.

I also joint own 2 rental properties in the UK which I maintain if local at the time.

Motivations!

I was mostly retired and my motivation now is to not have to pay rents as my company is only small, but covers the basics.
As a lifestyle business I need to live cheaply.

I've lived all over the world from close to New York to small quiet beach towns in Ecuador and am happy getting my head down into a solo software project for many months.

We can talk/video-chat or meet at your convenience.

Finally, we do charge for sitting and cover most locations south of Scotland.

Thanks for reading, your consideration,
...and we'd love to help you!

"Home. Place looks as good as expected...... Beau(their dog) was very happy to see us and surprisingly calm......
Sam"

"Hi Craig. Home and house looks lovely and more importantly dogs are happy and well. I'm glad you both enjoyed staying here. Thank you very much for caring for the pooches. Good luck reflecting all your hard work.
Many thanks
Debbie and Colin"

Craig helped us sit over Christmas and he was responsible and nothing seems too much trouble, he even helped us take delivery of and put a new bed together.
He also helped sit short notice in 2019 and we have a future date booked too.
Happy to recommend him.
Let me know if you have more questions.
Wayne

UK Reference:

September 2017 and March 2018
"Well done you are going to be awarded a gold star or maybe 2. well done. Mick (the cresty) has never warmed to even my son in 6 years this way." (I was hand feeding him after a week there; very nervous rescue dog) - A 3 dog sit.

2018 Reference from Adam and Abbi:

Craig has cared for our cats twice now and they love him. He has been first class and sends us photos and videos of them at play which is nice when so far away and
(despite us forgetting mentioning it) he put our bins out so we feel very confident in him as a pet-sitter, security guard and to look after our house as well.

We are happy to be called for a reference if needed:

Craig looked after our dog and home impeccably. He posted photos of our border collie to us on a daily basis and kept in touch with us throughout his stay. On our return the house was clean and tidy and it was clear that our dog had been well looked after and went on regular walks. Craig also tended to our new garden, watering it as needed and mowing the lawn.

MARK (Rushwick England, Jun 2023 - 1 month 3 weeks)
Craig left my house cleaner than I left it. He was in daily contact sending me photos and comments for the day. No hesitation in recommending him.

KAREN (Maidstone England, Feb 2023 - 1 week)
We were very pleased that Craig stepped in at short notice which made our trip possible. He communicated well before the sit but we personally would have preferred a few more reassuring photos and updates of the pets during the sit period. Craig left the house in perfect condition. All in all a great sit.

PAUL (Hungerford England, Jan 2023 - 2 days)
The dogs were delighted with Craig, as were we! A genuine dog lover, lots of communication while we were away, and house was immaculate on our return. Totally recommended, thanks Craig.

MIKA (Clifton, near Deddington, Oxfordshire England, Sep 2022 - 1 week 1 day)
Craig looked after our Cocker Spaniel Alfie for 2 weeks over the Christmas and New Year period. I would definitely recommend Craig - his communication was excellent, he left the house immaculate and Alfie was very well looked after. Well done Craig and thank you.

KIM (Leamington Spa England, Dec 2021 - 2 weeks 3 days)
I really was taking a leap into the unknown by using house sitters.uk for the first time and agreeing to a person, totally unknown to ourselves, to look after our house and our multitude of animals for a whole week while we were away. We have 3 rescue dogs, 30 chickens, 1 pet pig and 2 feral cats, some with specific needs. Craig was on his own as he and his girlfriend had split up recently, which added to my anxiety, especially as I specified that I wanted a couple. However, Craig did a ... MORE

CLARE (Wanborough England, Oct 2021 - 1 week 2 days)
Our two cats were the priority in this house sit and they were both well and fed on our return so that was a success in our eyes! Our cats are shy and nervous around new people, but must have been happy with Craig as they didn't stay hidden away as they usually would. Craig was great at sending updates and pictures and he even managed a couple of handy man jobs which we greatly appreciated.

CAROLINE (Carterton England, Aug 2021 - 4 days)
The house was still standing, (and possibly tidier than when I left!) everything in place, the garden pots were blooming & most importantly for us, after giving a lovely waggie welcome home Biscuit our terrier was totally chilled and straight back to her routine. She had clearly enjoyed Craig's company, plenty of exercise and mental stimulation and was well fed. A very successful house sit!

MIRANDA (Oxfordshire England, Aug 2021 - 5 days)
Craig looked after our cat, two Chinese geese, and house for 13days in December 2020. He carried out everything that was requested of him which included goose house cleaning, emptying & pond filling daily & also feeding our cat twice daily etc. There was nothing that phased him, he was very organised, calm & friendly. Our house was exactly as we had left it with everything in the correct place. He also washed all his bed linens & towels. He kept us updated with photos of our cat & geese. We ... MORE

MAIREAD ( Runcorn England, Dec 2020 - 13 days)
Thank you! It was a fantastic location, for a somewhat-snowy, Christmas-Cat-and-Geese sit for Mairéad and Phil. There was excellent documentation and welcome pack for managing the house, pets and their environment. They both had lots of time to answer questions when I had a pre-sit ... MORE
I am happy to let you have further details about this sitter. His partner Eva is lovely.

MINNIE (Richmond England, Aug 2020 - 2 weeks 2 days)
Craig did a wonderful job caring for our cat and house. It was actually cleaner when we got home than when we left it! He sent regular updates including photos, which were much appreciated. I would highly recommend him, and already have the next sit booked!

BRIGID (Ringmer England, Dec 2019 - 3 weeks)
We left our rather large puppy for the first time and were naturally apprehensive about this but Craig and Eve assured us that everything was in hand and it was. They cared perfectly for Luna and she was happy in their care. The house was immaculate and I would hesitate in recommending them to anyone looking for sitters.

ALEX (High Wycombe England, Oct 2019 - 1 week 1 day)
It's a very difficult thing to invite someone you haven't met to live in your home and look after it and your beloved pet. We did this with Craig this week, having left the house before he arrived and arrived back after he had left. We had nothing to fear, however, as Craig is definitely a very experienced sitter. We had regular photographs of our standard poodle, Jess, out on walks and having cuddles and regular text updates as to how she was doing and what was happening in the house re ... MORE

SUE AND TIM (Offchurch, Leamington Spa England, Jun 2019 - 5 days)
For us, the most important part of being a good house sitter has to be taking care of our dogs. Whilst we were away we received many photos and messages keeping us informed, which was lovely. We came home to happy and healthy dogs and an immaculately clean and tidy house. As a homeowner new to House Sitters UK we learnt the need to be very specific about what food within the house is on offer to our sitters and what isn't. If you engage Craig you will need to lock away all your chocolate! ... MORE
