Hi. I'm Richard, a sometime traveller, sometime handyman, sometime writer, sometime complementary therapist and coach, always easy going with a sense of humour. I am reliable, conscientious, flexible and I have a strong practical skill set. I have been a house sitting host in the recent past and can direct house owners to testimonials for that if required. Likewise on Workaway. When not travelling I'm based in south west Wales and if I'm not there I can be found in my self built campervan.

I have an affinity with all animals. I'm calm and loving around them and treat them with respect. I don't mind long walks in the rain if your pooch doesn't mind (amazing how many do! My own dog, now sadly no longer with us, would just look at me as if to say ''are you joking?'' then dig her heels in......)

I guess I'm what is termed a digital nomad which means I can support myself anywhere in the world.

Having had a number of sitters who have enjoyed travelling from place to place whilst house-sitting I've decided it's time I tried it from this side of the fence. I'm happy to consider any kind of sit from remote country to city-scape as it gives me chance to experience something I hadn't thought of doing and in an area that wasn't on my radar.

As a house-sitter, I don't yet have much experience. As a host, somewhat more. In life, quite a bit more! I have always been on the move and always done something different along the way. I consider myself adaptable and I have a wide ranging knowledge and skill set. I can deal with any issues that may crop up and will be able to deal with any eventuality.

As a past pet owner of dogs and cats, I'm aware of their needs and respond accordingly. I loved my pets with a passion and I have been blessed with some absolute crackers over the years. I have a particular bond with dogs and can generally gain the confidence of the most nervy of them quite easily. Same with cats. I've been around horses in the past and I would soon learn how to care for anything else!

I bring, maturity, kindness and respect to any house sit, for both your property and especially your pets. I'm very personable and will get along with anyone, no matter what species :) I am not a party animal, I don't smoke (anything!) and whilst I enjoy a tipple, it's always in moderation at the meal table.

There's not a lot I can't fix, so running repairs won't cause any problems. As a seasoned house renovator, I can deal with anything regarding house maintenance. I know my way around push mowers, ride-on mowers, strimmers, watering cans and all manner of garden equipment.

I have a good working knowledge of French and a smattering of German.

Sometimes I travel with my partner Kate. She is the seasoned house-sitting campaigner of the two of us and is even more gaga over animals than I am. If you were to reach out to me about a sit, we can discuss this possibility at the time!
