Janet & John

We are John & Jan, a semi retired couple who enjoy travelling in a non tourist fashion. Jan is a semi retired library consultant and academic, and John has held senior roles with the Australian Commonwealth government. We live in Melbourne Australia. Jan is originally from Nottinghamshire.

Usually we are most interested in housesits in London or the Greater London area as our daughter is working in London and we visit fairly frequently. Also Nottinghamshire where we have family. However we are interested in housesits further afield in the UK.

If considered for a housesit, we are happy to visit you for a few hours on a date prior to your departure so you can meet us and give us all the information we need to look after things efficiently for you. But of course we are also able to meet with you via Skype or Zoom at a time convenient to you beforehand.

When we undertake housesits we offer to contribute to gas and electricity bills for our stay.

We are keen gardeners who can look after your home and garden efficiently and happy to look after cats and small pets. We have had cats as pets most of our lives so can claim some expertise there.

Non smokers. We are both fully vaccinated for COVID 19.

We were really impressed with the way Jan and John looked after our Nairne home while we were holidaying in New Zealand. We had a useful Zoom session beforehand and Jan arrived on the day before to familiarize herself with our home and garden. Both our home and garden were maintained in meticulous condition and it was a pleasure to come home after 4 weeks away. We are looking forward to the Murrays housesitting again for us in the future.

Jan and John came and looked after our two cats Tucker and Chloe for a week whilst we were in
Queensland. We were very happy with the way they looked after our two fur babies and we have

Also when we returned the house was in an immaculate condition.

Reference for Jan
Jan was house sitting for us for 2 weeks in April 2017 looking after my two cats
as well as the house while my husband and I were abroad. I met her through the
Pet/House forum and immediately liked her.
She was communicative and considerate before arriving. She Skyped us and
provided a variety of contact numbers and her email address. She responded
promptly to all communication via text, What’s App and email.
Jan proved to be totally reliable arriving punctually and take note of all detail in
the house and with the cats. I immediately felt safe with her.
Jan is clean, neat, tidy, energetic and easy to communicate with. The cats were
very happy and I knew she was completely trustworthy.
On return the house was spotlessly clean and the cats were content and relaxed.
She had changed the linen and washed her linen. In addition she cooked a meal
for me and she bought milk. She made a generous contribution towards
household running costs for the period she was here.
I recommend Jan highly as a pet and house sitter.
