After working for 20 years as a Chartered Accountant (Alison) and in IT (Nigel) we left the UK in 2004 and spent seven years sailing around the world. We then lived in Bangkok teaching English for 3 years before travelling around South America for 7 months. We returned to the UK each year for 2 or 3 months but our own home was rented out so we liked to house sit.

We returned to sailing in 2020 and now live on our boat in Greece. We have again rented out our home in York so would like to house sit when not sailing. We will be returning to the UK for three months next summer (2024) and so are looking for housesits to do then.

Our first house sit was in October 2014 when we looked after 2 Staffies and 3 cats on a house sit in the New Forest, the owners wrote the following review:

Alison and Nigel house sat for us over a 2 week period in October 2014. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending them. They are a lovely trustworthy responsible couple who took a pride in looking after our dogs and cats and our home. We went on holiday knowing that all would be well at home and on our return they had cooked us a meal and cleaned the cottage to a spotless standard. Most importantly all our animals were very happy and had obviously been loved.

Over the New Year in 2014/5 we looked after a large GSD and a small cat for a week in a partially renovated house in Lima, Peru. The owners wrote the following review:

We had the fortune to meet Alison and Nigel here in Lima and they looked after my house, animals and plants while we went on a holiday.
On our return we found our plants in better condition then before and our cat and our dog were happy, the house clean and tidy.
I can truly recommend them to look after anybody's place. They are a nice and reliable couple.

Over the winter 2022/3 we completed a seven week sit in Prague, looking after three Chihuahuas, and a two week sit in Berlin. Last summer 2023 we housesat in Bicester, Chester and Knutsford. All these were through Trustedhousesitters.com.

Alison and Nigel were fabulous - to the extent that once they had gone, I began to feel a little embarrassed about the state of our home they had arrived to! Under their care, our fridge had been cleaned, shelves dusted and spice rack organised. There is no hint of exaggeration when I say our home was handed back in better nick than we left it. Hugely accommodating, very easy to deal with and genuinely lovely people. I have no hesitation in recommending Alison and Nigel.

Came home to a lovely clean house and well cared for animals. Alison and Nigel arrived at the agreed time and although the sit was short we received updates on the animals well-being. Definitely recommend and would gladly have them back to housesit again.

No rating Alison & Nigel house sat for 2 weeks in July and 2 weeks in August this year 2015. We were very happy to have them in our house looking after our garden which in July needed lots of watering!! Nigel got to grips with the ride on mower and cut the paddock for us a bonus when the grass was growing a lot. They left the house immaculately and even washed their bed linen and towels. I would certainly recommend them to anyone as an honest reliable couple and we hope they will be back next year.

No rating Alison & Nigel looked after our house, cat, dog & turtle for two and a half weeks. They left the house & garden tidier than when we left. They also stayed on for an extra 2 nights as we were delayed returning from holiday. They are an extremely professional couple who we are very pleased to have met. Can't say enough nice things about them & I would thoroughly recommend them and hope that we can see them again.
