I am an ex-teacher in primary and special education.
I am a very fit walker, runner, cyclist and kayaker with family in Torquay, Tavistock and Bristol.
I am based near Tavistock, West Devon but would consider sits throughout the UK including those of short and longer duration.
I am experienced and comfortable caring for most domestic pets.
For Housesitters, I have looked after dogs, cats, ducks, chickens and house rabbits during more than 20 stays of up to 4 weeks at a time. On occasion I have been required to administer medications to the pets I've cared for. Please check my reviews.
I would be willing to carry out light garden maintenance.
I am available throughout the year and flexible on the duration of stay.
I am happy to provide ID via photos of my driving licence and passport if requested.
Chris was an absolute delight to meet and my pooches were extremely happy on my return, Chris followed my instructions 100% and he too enjoyed the sitting…. Weather was restricting for various walks but the village has a lot of street views and variations available

Chris looked after our retrievers for two weeks while we went away on holiday.
Chris took good care of the dogs and the house and we came back to relaxed dogs and a clean house.
Chris is friendly and very easy to deal with. He was punctual and did everything that he said he would do.

Chris is a lovely guy and was calm and patient with my two very sensitive and fussy cats. Chris was a lovely house sitter. The communication was great and it was really easy to set up the sit. There were no issues while I was away and he adapted around the needs of my cats who can be rather shy. On return the house was clean and tidy.

Since the first message to Chris it’s been nothing but great communication before and during the house sit. Chris looked after our home and our Shar Pei, Norman. We arrived home from our holiday to find a very happy dog and a clean home. Norman can at times go off his food with any kind of change but ate well the whole time, a testament to how much he trusted Chris. We would absolutely recommend Chris to anyone looking for a house sitter.
This is the second time that Chris has been looking after our pets for us. The first time was over Christmas. Each time he has been super flexible with arrival & departure times, and bent over backwards to accommodate our needs.
Our pets & plants are alive and kicking. One of our cats needed to be slowly weened off medication whilst Chris was here, which he did according to our instructions. Good communication all around. Left clean sheets which is a bonus, as less laundry for us to do :)

We cannot recommend Chris highly enough. His care of our dog was outstanding. She had an accident whilst we were away (nothing Chris could have done to prevent it) and he had to take her to the vet on several occasions and administer medications. As a result of his care she made a rapid recovery. She was a happy dog when we returned and had obviously been very well looked after.

It was a pleasure to spend time with Chris before and after we left him to hold the fort.
He was very friendly and very attentive to our instructions for the dogs and chickens. We lent him a car to use with the dogs which he treated with respect. The dogs were very well looked after and really liked him, the chickens were cared for just as instructed. Chris has a way with dogs and we felt very happy and comfortable to leave him in charge.

Thanks Chris for looking after our two dogs for the week. They were so much happier than if they had stayed in kennels. Chris is a lovely gentleman and left the house tidy, even washing his bedding and towels so we wouldn't have to worry on our return.
Chris is wonderful and we can not recommend him enough. From first contact to the end he is very caring and reliable. We returned to very happy animals. Oscar ( large labradoodle) has various health issues and all medication was given and Oscar even put on weight! He normally refuse to eat and has tummy upsets when we away. This was my first experience with a house sitter and I was quite delighted with how it went.
Chris came to meet me and my dog and four cats before he came to sit and We were able to get to know each other and he was happy with the animals as they were with him. He was very tolerant as I am not a tidy person and my house was a bit chaotic. He did however seem to settle in very comfortably and he left the house much tidier than it was when he arrived. We've had Chris staying at our house with our dog and three cats for the past 7 days. Our house has been left immaculate, Chris washed all bedding and cleaned the house before he left.
It looks as clean as when we left if not cleaner. We are so impressed with Chris and would definitely recommend to friends and family. Even our neighbour commented on how quiet Chris has been. We would be more than happy to have Chris sit for us again and I think the dog would even agree with us.
Most importantly, Chris looked after our Border Collie Moss magnificently! When we returned home, Moss was happy and relaxed, on excellent terms with Chris and had clearly had a very good time!
Communications with Chris were very straightforward, he did everything he said he would, and even seems to have brought good weather for his stay. The house was left in good order
and we wold be pleased to have him back here anytime.

Chris was a fabulous house sitter - he cared for our cocker spaniel very well and we felt very comfortable leaving him to look after our home. He walked our dog frequently so we were greeted by a very happy pet on our return. He communicated well with us and made friends in our village - he became one of the army of village dog walkers! He was flexible and eager to please - we would certainly recommend him as a very competent house sitter.
Chris always communicated very quickly and has the most amazing positive attitude and personality which we found very engaging.
We booked Chris some 6 months prior to the sit and he kindly visited to meet our dogs and us of course so we could determine the requirements. Chris was a fantastic sitter. We were more than happy with the care he provided for our rabbits, chickens and the garden. We came home to happy pets, a clean house and a well watered garden. His communication was great and he always responded swiftly. We would definitely recommend him as a sitter.
