N.B I’LL BE FLYING BACK TO THE UK 12 MARCH 2024

I'm a single English, recently retired, woman embarked on a full time housesitting lifestyle in January 2019. At time of writing I've completed 74 housesits - in the UK, New Zealand and Australia, each receiving a 5 star review. I’m a member of Trusted Housesitters (THS through which most of my sits have been booked so far) aussiehousesitters and kiwihousesitters. You can see reviews on this website of the sits I did via Aussie and kiwihousesitters, and I can send a link to the THS ones. I’ve also done some privately arranged ones and two via Facebook.

I had been travelling in New Zealand's North island and Australia from July 2019 - March 2020 when plans to continue travelling and housesitting in the South Island of NZ were disrupted in March 2020 by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, when NZ reopened its doors I returned and arrived into Christchurch on 2/11/22.

After 6 months in New Zealand's South island I flew to Samoa on 30/04/23 for a short trip and then to Brisbane, my 5th visit to Australia. I decided it would be a good idea to join this platform, in addition to THS, to give me more opportunities for sits. I can stay in Australia for 90 days at a time and have a trip back to New Zealand from Nov 2023 - Jan 2024, mainly to visit the people I met in 2019, before flying to Melbourne, Adelaide then home to the UK on 12 March 2024.

I've travelled around the world independently, enjoy seeing new places, experiencing other cultures and meeting new people. I've a friendly disposition, a good sense of humour and can strike up a rapport with any age group. I'm happy either in company or alone. I've many interests including reading, attending literary festivals (volunteering at the Hay Festival most years); music - I've been a member of an amateur operatic society, played the piano and clarinet; photography; theatre; art galleries and museums. While working part time and also since retiring I've done a lot of volunteering, which I love, including driving for community transport; visiting elderly people after their return home from hospital; dog walking for the UK charity the Cinnamon Trust and working in a Red Cross charity bookshop. I like to keep fit as much as possible and particularly enjoy being outdoors, walking and cycling.

Having rented my home out from January 2019 - May 2020, in order to make house sitting a lifestyle and do more travelling, I rented it out again in January 2022. I've found housesitting to be the perfect way to get to know places better whilst helping other people and enjoy the company of their pets, keeping them in their homes and to their routines and have never been happier. I plan to continue with this lifestyle while I'm still fit and enjoying excellent health. My personal experience has proved that it is preferable for animals to remain in their home and be looked after/walked than to go to kennels/catteries. A penchant for long term travelling has meant that I've had to make the difficult decision not to have more of my own pets at present, as I would dearly love a dog and cat. However I'm getting my 'pet therapy' by contact with other people's much loved pets.

My housesitting experience is building all the time and I've looked after a variety of dogs, cats, chickens, fish - even alpacas and rare sheep! I'm respectful of people's homes, leave them as I find them (sometimes better!) and appreciate that I'm being entrusted with beloved pets. Aside from the numerous sits completed via THS and latest ones through kiwihousesitters, I've house sat for friends and family on many occasions. I'm a very reliable and trustworthy person, calm in a crisis and make the animals in my care my top priority.

I welcome home owners contacting me to sit. Please don't hesitate to message me should you have any questions.

Thank you for reading!

I was privileged to have Sheryl care for my house and pets. Sheryl is an experinced house sitter and understands the importance of good communication and I knew right from the start I had a gem. More than being an excellent sitter I feel I have made a friend. My 2 dogs clearly were at home with Sheryl and I appreciated the photos Sheryl sent me of the walks they went on. Sheryl also left me a bundle of information brochures that I will now keep updated for future sitters. I am grateful for this ... MORE

Sheryl was a delight to deal with from start to finish. Communication was excellent and we felt we could relax knowing our house and dog were being well looked after. Friendly, clean, and competent. We couldn't have asked for a better house sitter.

Lovely to meet Sheryl and have her mind our house and dog. Even though Roxy was recovering from ACL surgery and didn't need much exercise, Sheryl cared for her very well and Roxy was relaxed and happy. The house was so tidy when we got home! We highly recommend Sheryl , she's really an expert sitter.

Thank you so much, it really was my pleasure and lovely to meet you both. Roxy is a sweetheart
Sheryl was a fantastic find for us. Her communication from the very first message was excellent. We were very lucky to have Sheryl house sit and give our fur babies outstanding care and love. We were able to relax and enjoy our holiday knowing that we had chosen Sheryl. We returned home to a lovely tidy home and two chilled out pooches. Just wish she was staying around to have her sit again. Our Groodles loved her too.

HELEN (Bargo NSW, Jun 2023 - 1 week 1 day) From Aussie House Sitters
Thank you for this lovely review
Sheryl was an amazing house sitter for us, so good we asked her to sit twice for the cats. She looked after the cats so well(and the house) and we were totally content and happy in the knowledge she was here looking after the place for us. We would not hesitate to ask her back again or to recommend her to anyone else.

JANE (Rangiora South Island, Mar 2023 - 3 weeks - 1 of 2 endorsements from this owner ) From Kiwi House Sitters
Thanks Jane. If I come back one day I’ll let you know. All the best x
Sheryl looked after our home, and more importantly, our pets, whilst we were away; our dog Bonzo really enjoyed her company, loving the amount of walks he went on with her! Our cats were typical cats and were quite aloof, as per usual! Sheryl very kindly picked us up and dropped us off at the airport, which we really appreciated. She sent photos and videos of Bonzo having fun whilst on his adventures with her - he really looked sad for her to be leaving! We had to return from our trip early, ... MORE

JANINE (Albert Town, Wanaka South Island, Mar 2023 - 2 weeks) From Kiwi House Sitters
Thanks Janine, I love that you made light of my locking you out of your house! Missing Bonzo and hope that Gromet’s op is successful.
I found Sheryl to be friendly and interesting. She took great care of my house and dog. As I arrived home late and tired, Sheryl even cooked that evenings meal for us both. I would highly recommend Sheryl to anyone needing a house/pet sitter.

DIANNE (Brockville South Island, Feb 2023 - 2 weeks 2 days) From Kiwi House Sitters
Not sure why I got 4 stars for garden care, it probably should have been marked as n/a as I wasn't asked to look after the garden, apart from watering a tree which I di, plus other plants. I did offer to mow the lawn but couldn't get the mower to work.
Sheryl was amazing and looked after our three cats so well. So much so when we go away again in March/April of this year we have asked her to come back and stay again. She communicated well with us throughout even sending my girls pictures of the cats so they could see how they were and not miss them too much. Any issues she had she always messaged us and nothing was ever too much trouble. She even came to pick us up at the airport and made us a lovely meal so we did not have to cook when we ... MORE

Sheryl looked after our cats and home for a week. We found her excellent to communicate with before and during the sit, and she cared for our cats and home wonderfully. We would welcome her back any time, and sincerely recommend her to others.
