Hello! I'm Melanie a dedicated house sitter from New Zealand with two years of housesitting experience.

I am an ecologist and travelling to the UK to undertake a sabbatical. I first came to the UK in my mid-20's to undertake my Overseas Experience (OE) and lived and worked in London for two years. I'm very excited to be returning to the UK.

As an ecologist, my work revolves around the preservation of nature and wildlife. It's not uncommon for me to be in situations where I rescue native animals from project sites, making sure they're relocated to safe environments.

In my free time, I'm all about embracing the outdoors and exploring the beauty of nature. as well as historical and cultural sites. Additionally, I love dancing and know many Latin American styles.

Housesitting has been an incredibly fulfilling journey for me and I genuinely cherish the opportunity to care for pets and homes.

Do you have previous experience?

Absolutely, I have a wealth of experience! I undertook a number of housesitting assignments while I lived in Dunedin in the South Island and since I relocated to Auckland in the North Island I have been housesitting full-time. I've had the pleasure of completing over 20 housesits and counting. My furry, feathery, and even woolly friends have included cats, dogs, rabbits, alpacas, chickens, and fish. Beyond that, I have a track record of providing specialized care, including administering medications such as oral, eye drops, ear drops, and even insulin for those pets who need it. I pride myself on my adaptability and ability to reassure and care for pets with all types of personalities, be they boisterous, shy, or anxious. Your pets' well-being is always my top priority!

Will you send us updates of our pets?

Certainly, keeping you connected with your pets is a top priority for me! I love capturing precious moments with your furry family members and often create a visual diary of their adventures. I find that WhatsApp works wonders for creating a convenient group chat with pet parents while they're overseas. This way, you can receive real-time updates, photos, and videos, so you never feel too far away from your beloved pets.
Your peace of mind and staying connected with your pets are of utmost importance to me. I'm more than happy to tailor my communication to your preferences and ensure you're always in the loop. Feel free to let me know how you'd like me to keep you updated!

What awaits us upon return home?

Joyful pets! Previous pet parents have shared their delight in seeing their furry friends happy, relaxed, and healthy in my care. Your home will also be in impeccable condition, with laundry taken care of and household essentials, like detergent, replenished for your convenience. As a heartfelt token of my gratitude for choosing me as your housesitter I love leaving a small gesture of appreciation.
