We need a house sitter

North West - Greater Manchester

Andrea

Myself and my husband live in a cozy two bedroomed terraced house, adjacent to the Lower Peak Forest canal - with miles of canal walking available from our front door. We are also within 20 minutes drive from Manchester city centre, with good public transport links (local train/bus), and we are on the doorstep of the Peak District (Edale is just over a half hour drive).

Having your own transport is probably easier if you want to do trips into the Peak District (you can go with our dog!), but we do have good public transport links to the city centre and to parts of the surrounding counties. However, you can find everything you need in walking distance - whether you're wanting to do a 2/3 hour canal walk or longer, go into the local town for the market or supermarket, or go for a takeout!

In terms of pet care, we have one very chilled cat called Rosie who does her own thing (she has a cat flap and goes outside for her toilet needs - no litter tray to change!), and we have a Chihuahua cross rescue dog called Ted, who is still a young lad at 2 years old.

Ted obviously needs walking a few times a day and he is a little needy, so he does prefer company for most of the time, though he can tolerate about 3 hours alone. He is super well behaved in the house but this house-sit will suit someone who is happy to take Ted with them to explore, or who is happy to be coming and going for shorter periods. Ted can go walking though for extended periods - he has done 15/16km hill hikes with us!

(NB. For people who like the city, Manchester has many dog friendly pubs / restaurants etc).

The house is a smoke and vape free zone and needs to absolutely stay that way, but you may go outside. I have vocal cord sensitivity and lung issues that are made worse by smoke/vape particles, even very residual. It can stop me breathing so this is a rule that really must be respected.

As well, Ted sleeps on our bed! He does also have a bed on the floor, but he prefers to get up on the end. He's only small and he's a wee softie, so his place on the bed also needs to be respected.
