We need a house sitter

West Midlands

becky

Putting out the feelers for a trip that's happening for us in July. Normally we would take him with us but on this occasion our friend is taking their dog who doesn't like cats.

We are Becky, Billy and Batfink! I work from home in the video games industry, Billy works as an Operating Department Practitioner in a hospital and Batfink is our cat.

Batfink was adopted 4 years ago via Cats Protection after he was found as a stray. He is a very affectionate neutered male cat who is partially blind and has some neurological issues that makes him a bit wobbly on his feet, but he manages very well.

Batfink loves human company, and we would be looking for somebody who would be able to give him plenty of cuddles while house sitting. Somebody that would work from the house would be ideal. I have a large desk and strong wifi connection you can use. His favourite activity during the warmer months is to sit outside in the back garden in the sun, but he must be supervised when he is outside as there are many neighbourhood cats roaming about that aren't very friendly.
Batfink loves a cuddle, he is the most purry cat I have ever known, and insists on sharing a bed with us every night.

Due to his bad sight and neurological issues, he sometimes misses the litter tray slightly, however we have hardwood/tiled floors throughout the home so it's very easy to wipe up.

We live in a 2 bedroom house in Erdington, Birmingham with a large lake at the bottom of the road that is nice to take a stroll round on a sunny day. We live a 5 minute walk from Gravelly Hill Train Station, and a 2 minute walk from Slade Road where there are regular buses into Birmingham city centre. Slade Road has many shops and takeaways. There are larger supermarkets such as Tesco/Lidl/Aldi within a 10 minute drive. The train station can quickly take you to a range of places. Get off at Sutton Coldfield to visit Sutton Park - a 2,400 acre National Nature Reserve, where you can go on walks around the lakes and through the forests and maybe even spot some Deer. Get off at Birmingham New Street to visit the city centre that has cinemas, theatres, music venues and lots of shopping. Get off at Bournville to visit Stirchley High Street that has great independent pubs, craft breweries and restaurants.

We do not have a drive, but there is on-street parking available, my Dad has parked his LWB campervan outside the house (with a careful bit of manoeuvring)

We have a backgarden that gets lots sunshine, it's lovely to sit out there to eat meals and listen to the birds, Batfink will insist on keeping you company out there too! You are very welcome to use everything in the garden including our BBQ, sunloungers, table, chairs etc. We are currently growing a small selection of herbs and vegetables, which we would love for you to water for us if the weather is dry.

Inside the house you can sleep in our spare room which has a huge bed (bigger than a double) with a really comfy memory foam mattress, that has barely been used.
