Gus and Becky

Hi,

We’re a married couple originally from England (Cheshire and the West Country). Gus is a registered nurse and Becky is a freelance writer/consultant and completing a PhD (in the science of happiness).

We are now based in Hobart, Tasmania but regularly return to UK to see family and have some flexibility to stay longer for house-sits.

A bit about us...

We're non-smokers and try to live as healthy a life as possible. We have grown-up kids who have now flown the nest. Four years ago Becky project-managed the building of our eco-home in Tasmania and we passionately established a garden from scratch on a hill (with veggies growing on the deck). Our home was featured in a national magazine here in Australia. We also built a home for 8 happy free-range chooks who share our lovely riverside location with lots of native ducks and other bird life.

We both love animals. Between us we've owned cats (and kittens), prize-winning guinea pigs (there's a story about that), hamsters, gerbils, rabbits, dogs, horses and even kept a flock of sheep and bred lambs.

We have house sat and cared for various pets and animals for colleagues and friends over the years. In 2022, on our return to UK, we completed our first house, chicken and dog-sit through this website and absolutely loved it (the owners have provided a glowing review). Becky even once looked after a tiny island with a lighthouse on the Great Barrier Reef - which involved weather reporting and sweeping the beach for day-visitors arriving on boat tours. We have travelled a lot and have excellent reviews on AirBnb, where we are described as clean and tidy, quiet, and great communicators. We are also very trustworthy and reliable - with police and government security clearances and ‘working with vulnerable people’ certification.
