Hello. I'm James, and I divide my working life between teaching in London and writing (I write school textbooks). I am based in central London, but always love the opportunity to spend some time writing away from the big city.

There are three things which attract me to house-sitting outside London (or other big cities): I love walking and hiking; I love animals, particularly dogs, but wouldn't have them as pets in London; and I love gardening - I'd be particularly keen to do a house-sit where a bit of gardening was required or at least welcomed!

My first house-sitting experience was for my uncle and aunt, who themselves have had a number of dogs and one gorgeous cat, as well as fish. In the past four years I have done a good number of housesits, some through this site, and some through another. I have looked after goats, dogs, cats and chickens. I am able to provide a number of references. I am a responsible and professional person, with over 20 years experience as a teacher. I am also fairly 'low-maintenance' - given my writing and editing responsibilities, perhaps the key thing for me to have is good access to wifi, as well of course as some good walks and a flower bed or two to work on.
