Paul & Leanne
We are looking for someone to house sit and look after our animals while we away on a family holiday.
We live in a 3 bedroom end terrace in a lovely, small village in the Peak District.
We have a small, 14 year old Westie, two 15 year old outdoor cats, 3 chickens and 2 fish. Our dog is relatively low maintenance and just loves a cuddle! He can handle decent walks (but not super long) but is also just as happy with short strolls, as he is getting on a bit. He's only walked on lead as well, so no stress about recall etc. He's happy to be left on his own in the day time, so you won't be tied to the house or dog friendly spots at all times.
The cats have a cat flap and come and go as they please (but will sit on your lap for hours if you're in!). The chickens need letting out first thing in the morning and putting in at night, but they head to the coop themselves so the door just needs shutting. They are all layers as well so there will be a supply of lovely free range eggs.
There is no shop in our village, but there is a Co-op a 5 minute drive away and an Aldi in Bakewell, around 15 minutes away. There is a lovely pub across the road open Thursday - Sunday and other pubs / cafes a short drive away.
There are obviously some amazing walks in the area and lots of places for day trips such as Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Matlock.
Alton Towers, Manchester, Sheffield, Gullivers Kingdom are all within an hour's drive as well.
Lovely short break in the countryside with beautiful views. Such an easy sit because cats and chickens just need food and water. Friendly dog just needed short walks and lots of knee sitting for strokes. All the people I met in the village say Hi and are friendly. No issues at all so would recommend this if you want fresh air and great walks etc.
This was our first house sit and we had a fantastic weekend looking after Paul and Leanne’s pets. They live in the most beautiful little village with lots of places to explore nearby. Their pets were just adorable, and our children didn’t want to leave them when it was time to go home! Communication was excellent and they left information about the pets and surrounding area etc which was great. I would highly recommend house sitting for Paul and Leanne 😀
Oscar is a real honey, He loved his walks & cuddles, a real delight. The cats are happy with regular feeding & an occasional cuddle. The chooks & goldfish were easy to care for, & having fresh eggs was a bonus . Paul & Leanne left clear instructions. The house is situated in a quiet & beautiful area of the Peak District with gorgeous walks & scenery all around.
We met Paul and Leanne before the sit and they were absolutely lovely. All of their animals were a dream to look after and their dog and cats complete cuddle bugs which was brilliant. Their home was clean, welcoming and surrounded by beautiful countryside. We would happily sit for them again!
Lovely little house in a quaint village, in the gorgeous Peak District. The dog was friendly and easy to manage, the cats even more so, The chickens were productive and the fish were a breeze. Our only regret was that it was just for a week, as the area was gorgeous. Paul and Leanne, our hosts, were very welcoming and laid back also, with great written instructions for the animals. Thank you for having us!
